About Google File System


        In olden days, Google uses Big Files file system i.e., Original File System. Big Files is used to store the files in a distributed matter.


       In 2003, Google replaced the original file system with Google File System (GFS). It consists of Admin and many chunk servers. Chunk servers consist of 64 Mb internal size and chunk servers broken up to large fixed chunks. These chunk servers identified by chunk handler.

           Each chunk is distributed into multiple chunk servers. Whenever client wants to read or write a  of a file it calculates the chunk index using size of a chunk.
